OK, so now you are pushing the idea that you are not one of the worst
LASIK outcomes in the history of the procedure. So why do you have 80
pounds of records, depositions, etc.?
I get so weary of explaining and re-explaining....my OUTCOME is that I
am correctable to 20/15 with a hard contact lens. Not bad,
considering what my cornea has been through. Without a lens, I can
barely make out the big E on the chart (and I see many of them layered
on top of each other), but I am so happy that a lens will correct my
problems. You just have no clue, Christopher, about the horrific
outcomes out there. Blindness, people having multiple transplants and
ending up with 10 diopters of astigmatism, unable to drive, work,
enjoy sports, etc. Extreme dry eye pain that never stops. The list
goes on and on. Yes, what I went through was really tough, but I am
on the other side of that now, and other than still trying to find a
great contact lens fit and spending five or ten minutes reading this
board for entertainment most days, I have moved on. When I say that I
feel very fortunate about my OUTCOME, why do you insist on calling me
a malcontent? Is everyone who experieces something negative and tries
to change the world for better a "malcontent" in your eyes? Other
than using a laser for some lasik surgeries, what has really changed
since I had my surgery? It may have been five years ago, but lasik is
still lasik. I know you read SE. Don't you see the people currently
landing there with complications from this amazing new technology
called "Wavefront LASIK"? Same old same old--irregular astigmatism,
night vision problems, dry eyes--what has really changed?

The answer is, you are indeed either one of the very worst results
and/or you are one of the worst malcontents there ever has been.
There are now over 1,500,000 people having LASIK done every year now.
Why should anybody be concerned about one isolated case done 5 years
ago to some nut? Over 30,000 children die every day from malnutrition
and disease - not one of them from LASIK. Over 40,000 people per year
in the US die in traffic accidents. Nobody has ever died from LASIK.
I do know about one case of someone dying from cataract surgery though
- of course they were quite old.
