MySolution:Block Sandy and Ragnar

2003-10-10 02:21:51 AM
I'm just an occasional lurker and sometimes poster to this group, and
have gotten fed up (as I dare say many others have) with the constant
attacks of Sandy and counterattacks by Ragnar, and I have decided that
neither contributes much to the group because they have so tainted their
reputations by being completely biased to only one side of discussion. Both
seem more bent on attacking other PERSONS than staying on target. So my
solution is to block both senders altogether, seeing no more of their
messages. I notice today that means 10 of the last 14 threads will
disappear, and I may save time by only needing to read more rational and
considerate posts in the future. This is a tactic I rarely ever use but will
now.
Sorry this must seem like an attack on these PERSONS, but it is not
intended to be. It's just my way of minimizing wasted time when I want to
keep up with the worthwhile aspects of this group. Sandy and Ragnar, you can
do as you have been doing and I have no way to stop you, nor the right to if
I had it. However, I've had enough and have better things to read than your
constant pettiness.
Sadly, unmoderated newsgroups have a way of being taken over by a few,
to the great loss of many others, because those few cannot control
themselves and post responsibly, fairly, and constructively. They don't seem
to realize that they only hurt the very causes they want to support when
they do this. Ah, well. Such is life.
By the way, my eyes are doing wonderfully, Praise God, after LASIK in
February of 2002. Best wishes to all of you, whether you do or do not have
the surgery, or support it or do not. You have a right to your opinion. I
just hope you don't try to force it on others who may feel differently. No
one MUST support LASIK and no one MUST be against it. Decide what is best
for you. Don't think you can decide what is best for me. Only the Lord and I
have the information available to do that.

Re:MySolution:Block Sandy and Ragnar

This newsgroup is not moderated, so blocking at that level is not
available. An individual may either ignore a particular author's
posts and/or many newsgroup readers have a "kill" feature that will
automatically ignore postings from a particular author.

Re:MySolution:Block Sandy and Ragnar

I think that's a good idea. If you just blocked Sandy, you would wind
up with most of her garbage anyway in my responses, so you probably
should block me also. This has come up before with Sandy and Glenn.
It's alway Sandy and (fill in the blank).
I wouldn't say I'm biased at all. Glenn and Dr. G certainly aren't
biased in favor of LASIK. It just that compared to Sandy's flood of
misinformation and terror, everyone else sounds pro-LASIK by
compariston.
I don't think that people like Sandy talk anybody out of having LASIK
done. There are people having LASIK that shouldn't be. For instance,
mentally unstable people that can't accept the results no matter how
good.

I should have been clearer.
The "kill" feature on Outlook Express is accomplished by opening (or
previewing) a message by the chosen sender, and choosing "block sender"
under the Message menu.
I finally chose to do this, and "voila," the newsgroup takes on a whole
new look! Cool.

Even if the newsgroup was moderated these articles would go through because
they are related to the main subject of the group which is LASIK. A
moderator is not a censor that filters all the articles he/she does not
like. The group is not taken over by anyone, because anyone is free to
post, and free to express an opinion. I always received interesting anwers
when asking a question.

I hope I made the cut! 8^)
